Nothing less than superb . . .
"Having just returned home from the Live Aboard Cruising Course in Tortola, BVI, I must say that my experiences with the Offshore Sailing School were nothing less than superb and made for a wonderful trip and a great vacation.
If you have never sailed or visited the BVI's (as was my case before this trip) then you are in for a wonderful surprise; the islands are absolutely beautiful with near-perfect weather and ideal sailing conditions . . . words simply do not do it justice.
The course itself was tremendously gratifying, although the class was challenging and content of material seemed at times overwhelming, our instructor, Mike Huffer, made the week fun, relaxed, and manageable.
As I review how m
uch I learned about sailing and cruising over the course of the week I find it funny to look back and appreciate how subtly he wove all the information in (stealthily pulling out the white-board and markers for impromptu study-sessions as we were underway) and how I was able to learn a boat load (no pun intended) of knowledge without ever feeling like I was taking a class. His style of teaching made all the concepts understandable and the hands-on nature of the course helped to turn all the information from 'theory' to immediate practical experience and sailing know-how.
The class was an amazingly rewarding experience in terms of the amount of material learned, sailing confidence gained, and time enjoyed.
I recommend this class (and location) to anyone interested in making the jump from basic keelboat to crusiing."
