Aileen and Al Dresser

Fast Track to Cruising in the British Virgin islands - February 5-13, 2011

"This was a very intense and complete program. Not quite zero to hero but as close as you an get in one week.
We are keen to get back on the water (as soon as it melts) to put our skills into practice. Thank you for a great program in a wonderful location with a superb instructor."
Al Dresser, comments from his post-course evaluation

While the Colgates were cruising on a Moorings 4600 with friends in the British Virgin Islands last February, Aileen and Al Dresser of Tottenham, Ontario, Canada were taking the Fast Track to Cruising course. Steve and Doris spent some time talking with them about their experience. Here's what they said . . .

A lot of work but very satisfying

The Dressers started with two days on the Colgate 26 in the same strong winds the Colgates were experiencing - 15-30 knots.

Aileen said she came in "with a rough understanding of what they were going to achieve." They both said it was a "totally positive experience and they feel they can handle any 26' to 46' sailboat now."

Intuitive instructors made learning easy

"The instructors were intuitive," said Aileen, "excellent in reading our comfort level and I felt their (instructors') skill levels were first rate."

Al commented they went from "not sure to certain" in the week of training. They plan to bareboat charter and sail with friends now. "It was great fun," said Al. "We were taught "why" not just "how" which made the learning proceess easy to understand."
