A Secret Desire to Learn to Sail
As a young person, I had a secret desire to learn how to sail. I got married young, though, and very soon my dreams took a back seat to the family goals. As the years passed, my dreams became fainter and almost forgotten.
Sailing lessons second time around
I am now in my 50's. I just finished taking sailing lessons for the second time. I love being out on the water. I love the sounds of the wind, the sound of the sails as they flap and suddenly fill with wind on a tack or jibe. I love all the outdoor noises that come along with sailing; fish jumping, birds squawking, waves rolling, other boaters. I also love all the sights as well, even the "Love Bugs" that swarmed the boat at times of light wind during my most recent sailing course.
All I need now is a sailboat
My parents used to say, "If you don't use it, you'll lose it". I took my first sailing course with Offshore Sailing with my daughter. Due to lack of access to or use of a sailboat, that is exactly what happened. My sailing skills became fainter, almost forgotten. I did own a Sunfish sailing boat for a brief period of time until Hurricane Katrina "ate it".
My recent sailing experience has rekindled my desire to be a sailor. I live by the water now and now that my children are grown, I have the time to devote to sailing. All I need now is a sailboat!!!!!!
